Grace for Every Mom

I am currently enrolled with the online division of University of Phoenix. I am working on an Associate's degree in Elementary Education (this may change soon). Anyway, in my English class we have been given an assignment to write a 2000 to 2500 word essay on the subject of our choice. It has to be a persuasive essay, in other words, I have to try to get my readers to understand and, to some extent, get them to agree with me. I chose to do my essay on the benefits of immigration. While doing research for the paper I came across an article in a publication called The American Spectator and the title of this article was Immigration, si; welfare, no. The author is Tom Bethell, who is a correspondent for The American Spectator. This was an extremely well written article and Mr. Bethell made some very compelling arguments for immigration. You watch your parents work hard everyday just to put food on the table and clothes on your back. They farm, fix car, bicycle, and motorcycle tires. They make cinder blocks for building houses. On weekends your father takes you fishing in the near by river and, even though you know it's more for food than for fun, your dad tries to make it fun while teaching you how to survive. Your mother spends her days washing clothes in a heated iron pot outside or killing and dressing chickens to sell to the neighbors. There are no job opportunities for those who live in your country, so they risk their very lives, some at a the tender age of seventeen or eighteen to go to another country and try to make a living. Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with people. I was on a site today, don't remember which one, and people were blasting Hispanics hard. Most of what they were saying was nonsense, like if Hispanics were not here, gangs wouldn't be here either. Hellooooo? What exactly is/was the mob? I know of gangs in my tiny town with not one Latino member. There are good people, people who aren't so good, and then plain human garbage in every culture & race. You know what they all have in common? When you hurt them, they ALL bleed red. There are white, black, yellow & brown men AND women who don't take care of their responsibilities, God made us all and He doesn't make mistakes. How can we be so hostile to people who believe our country is worth risking their life to come to?
